5 Things To Know Before Working With a Designer

by | Apr 2, 2015 | Uncategorized

1. Remember: white space is a good thing.

Ever heard of the phrase “less is more”? This is a principle every good designer lives by. Clients often think that the lack of information will drive away customers when, in fact, just the opposite is true. The more information that is crammed into a design, the less likely it is that people will take the time to read it.

2. Try not to micromanage.

Would you ever tell an oral surgeon how to do his job? Of course not! Our designers have spent years gaining the education, the training, and the experience that allows them to be the best at what they do. When you’re willing to leave it to the designer, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

3. Don’t forget that you are not our only client.

Don’t expect us to drop everything to cater to your every whim. Good design takes time and sometimes there are people ahead of you in line. We understand times when there are tight deadlines, but the creative mind works best with a little wiggle room.

4. When possible, choose ONE person to be the point of contact.

If you’re from a company, choose one person to communicate with us. Five different opinions can get very confusing very fast! It’s in your best interest. Confusion equals time wasted which, in turn, equals a loss of money. Plus, the more changes there are, the more annoying the project becomes. And nobody likes an annoyed designer. 😉

5. Do your research.

If you’re sending us files to use, make sure they’re actually usable. Big project? Send us a high-resolution file. If you send us a small picture, it’s going to be almost unrecognizable if we try to use it on your poster. Do you need us to include your logo on a billboard? We’re going to need the vectored file in order to enlarge the size that much.
