Posted by | Business Tips, Fun Stuff, Marketing Help | No Comments

We are “Not the Patriots” fans around here, so, we’re just going to jump right into our favorite commercials from last night instead of discussing anything about the game. ;) With over 100 million viewers, the Super Bowl has become advertisers’ favorite way to reach a huge audience, which doesn’t even include the social views and shares that happen after the fact. With this huge audience, and the potential benefit, advertisers have to be on top of their game – and boy are we glad that they are! Here’s a look at our favorites from this year:

And we’re all really excited for Halloween now, because…

Today we’re talking about #foodandfeelings. Because who doesn’t want to talk about food and feelings, right?

Throughout history, food has been a social experience. When was that last time you went to a party without food? Right?

Our friends in South Korea are a great example of this. They eat meals with their families regularly. Did you know the word for family in Korean literally means “those who eat together”? Food is a tradition. It pulls at our heartstrings and creates nostalgia. Posts about food on social media are wildly successful for that very reason. Instagram is where most food posts were first seen. It didn’t take long for Facebook to catch up, with hundreds of video posts about the next unimaginably delicious recipe!

So how can we incorporate #foodandfeelings to non-food related businesses and products? This is a question we ask ourselves often for the various clients we work with.

If we recognize that the success of those posts is found in the tradition, nostalgia, and feelings they provoke, we have to brainstorm what will create similar emotional ties with our own consumers.

That’s our challenge to you! Consider what emotional ties your business offers its consumers and use those ties to create meaningful relationships.

History of GIFs

If you haven’t heard of the internet craze and commonly mispronounced term “GIF” chances are you’ve probably seen one. So, what’s a GIF anyway? A GIF in technical terms is simply just an image format, a way to save pictures to conserve space. It stands for Graphic Interchange Format, and it’s pronounced with a soft “g”, like JIF. But GIFs have come a long way from an obscure file format in the 80s to cheesy image clips that made Myspace so famous to becoming one of the most popular internet memes of the social media age. To see the full history of GIfs check out this video.

The Animated GIF

In today’s world of social media and constant sharing of information people have begun to use animated GIFs as a humorous or ironic way to communicate an idea. Animated GIFs are like mini video clips with no sound. They are typically only a few seconds long and “loop” meaning they repeat over and over again. GIFs can be made from nearly any video clip, from popular TV shows to classic movies. To give you a better idea of what an animated GIF is and how to use it we’ve put together 5 of our favorite GIFs.
