The social media world is full of crafts and projects. Have you been on Pinterest lately? With endless amounts of DIY project ideas available, we’ve created a society that operates on doing it themselves. We support the furniture upcycle and hexagon shelving trend but we’re not so sure you should be trying to DIY your marketing.
DIY-ing your marketing could end up with results like this:

Somewhat of a disaster, right?
We don’t claim that everyone who attempts social media or digital advertising will end up with results like this, but we do believe there are a few reasons you shouldn’t attempt to do your marketing alone.
Time
As a business owner, your most valuable resource is time — both yours and your employees. Did you know that the average marketer spends about 3 hours a day on social media? They are busy people trying to balance budgets, KPIs, and other executive meetings. Our Duo team spends at least 8 hours a day monitoring, creating content, and refreshing your online platforms. Our account executives dedicate their days to testing and retesting advertisements and posts to make sure your ad dollars are spent in the best way possible.
Here’s a look at what our account executives do on a daily basis:
Money
Would you rather throw $1500 at a single ad and just hope that it gets to the right people OR spend $1500 getting the perfect, highest performing ad up and running to people who are actually interested in your product or service? The answer should be obvious. Yet some marketers seem to believe that the larger the budget, the better they will perform. We have seen time and time again how a properly used budget can make or break a campaign. Our account executives have been able to compete, (and win!) against client competitors who are using larger budgets without an effective strategy. Facebook has a very specific and tedious bidding process for ad space, which means you can’t be wasting money hoping something will stick.
In the image below, you can see our client (blue dot) vs. everyone else in this industry. We have a smaller budget, yet we rise to the top time and time again.
Expertise
Duo’s account executives have over 20 years of combined marketing experience. We know Facebook in and out. In fact, we have monthly, if not weekly, phone calls with our Facebook and Google representatives to make sure our accounts stay in good standing. These contacts will reach out to us first if anything changes in the algorithm. When you try to do your marketing alone, it’s like trying to wire your own kitchen without an electrician. We do not recommend either.
Part of having expertise is having passion. We eat, sleep, and breathe social media marketing. Staying ahead of the ever-changing digital world can be exhausting and without a dedicated person on your team, your brand could get left behind. Having passion fuels our campaigns forward to keep up with the latest trends. We are experts in the digital marketing field.
Working with an agency rather than DIY-ing can save you time and money and keep your pages running smoothly.
